Press Release No.14.25 – CBSI Successfully migrates to swift alliance cloud, embracing ISO 20022 standards
Honiara, 8 December 2025 – The Central Bank of Solomon Islands (CBSI) is delighted to announce its successful migration to SWIFT Alliance Cloud, a fully scalable and secure solution that transforms global financial messaging. This marks a significant milestone in CBSI’s commitment to modernizing its financial infrastructure and aligning with international best practices.
While SWIFT is not new to CBSI, the transition from its on-premise SWIFT Alliance Entry system to the cloud-based platform enables the Bank to join leading financial institutions worldwide in fully adopting the ISO 20022 standard.
Furthermore, CBSI is pleased to also confirm that, as of 22 November 2025, it has joined all other SWIFT operators and subscribers to ‘Go Live’ with the new upgraded SWIFT MX payment platform under ISO 20022. ISO 20022 is an open global standard for financial information, designed to simplify and streamline communication across international payments, securities, funds, and foreign exchange transactions.
This migration supports CBSI’s Strategic Plan 2024-2027 to modernize central banking by leveraging the latest cloud technology to enhance performance, scalability, and agility. By meeting SWIFT’s global standards, CBSI strengthens its ability to move overseas funds efficiently and securely – an essential part of its mandate to manage the country’s foreign reserves.
CBSI extends its sincere gratitude to the SWIFT Oceania Support team, based in Sydney, Australia, and the Alliance Cloud consultant for their invaluable support throughout this transition. The Bank remains committed to adopting future compliance requirements and innovations to ensure seamless integration with global financial systems.
