HONIARA – 21st SEPTEMBER 2026— In October 2026, the Central Bank of the Solomon Islands will release an updated $100 banknote.
The updated banknote retains the same familiar design and introduces an enhanced security thread, providing a quick and easy way to check that the note is genuine. The new thread works alongside the existing security features:
CHECK
When the banknote is tilted, the security thread changes colour from green to red, complemented by a pulsing movement effect.
FEEL
The banknote features design elements that are printed in a raised ink that you can feel with your finger
LOOK
When the banknote is held up to the light, a watermark portrait of an eagle becomes visible.
When the banknote is placed under UV light, hidden design elements glow in two distinct colours.
The updated $100 banknote will circulate alongside the existing $100 banknote and will be available through the commercial banks once it’s issued into circulation.
