The Central Bank of Solomon Islands is seeking to recruit a suitable and qualified person for the position of Research Analyst within the Economics Research and Statistics Department  

The potential candidate must have essential minimum experience and qualification below.

Essential Qualification
  • A Bachelor’s degree in economics, econometrics, research, mathematics, engineering, statistics, physics, social science or a related field, with strong record of academic achievement.
Essential Experience

Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in conducting research and data analysis, OR for recent graduates, a strong academic record in relevant discipline (e.g., Honors degree, Distinctions, Credits, or high GPA). · Demonstrated experience in preparing research proposals, project plans, or concept notes, gained either through professional work or university studies. · Proven ability to produce original work with academic and professional integrity, including accurate referencing and adherence to ethical research standards.

Responsibility

Develop and produce high-quality research proposals on key research topics relevant to the Bank’s monetary policy mandate, under the guidance of the Senior Analyst.

· Utilize a wide range of economic and financial journal databases to conduct comprehensive and independent literature reviews.

· Conduct rigorous quantitative and qualitative analysis and translate empirical results into clear, well-structured analytical reports, policy notes, and research papers.

· Perform data management and empirical analysis using statistical, econometric, and database software packages—including EViews, R studio, Stata and Microsoft Office applications—with a high level of proficiency to generate robust empirical findings.

· Communicate research findings effectively through written reports, presentations, and briefings, tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior management and external stakeholders.

· Produce at least one working paper per year, with other papers being developed as work in progress.

· Work effectively both independently and collaboratively within research teams (CBSI and external partners like ADB-APAEA), contributing to joint analytical outputs and projects.

· Assist in the organization and delivery of research trainings and seminars, ensuring appropriate professional and technical standards
